Welcome to Spiration. This is the online home of me, Christopher Lacy-Hulbert. This site is built entirely using Torkalot, the open-source groupware project. Most of the content in this site is within the 'Spiration Channels', which is where a few people dump random snippets from whatever has happened recently through technical misadventures.
Christopher left the Aerospace industry in 2001 to focus on internet software development and has since been involved with a number of startup businesses, ranging from DNS registries to Internet Service providers. Chris now works full time for Yahoo! as an Engineering Manager. Previously, Chris offered independent consultancy, covering strong server build and systems administration skills covering Linux, BSD, asterisk PBX, DNS, Apache, CVS, VoIP (SIP) networks and telephony bridges. Chris comes from a strong open source background and specialises in the selection and integration of open source technologies for business critical applications.
Chris wrote the first ever over-the-phone karaoke system, the first ever IVR DSL checker, a unique search and alerts system and numerous web, IVR, VoIP and conferencing applications. Chris sees voice and telephony as the next big growth area and is proud to be one of the UK's leading technicians in open source voice integration.
When not programming internet software, Chris can usually be found indulging in Russian literature, visiting the giraffes in London zoo or playing classical piano.
